Fair Pay

About Fair Pay

Who built this, and why.

Most Australian workers are covered by a modern award. Awards set the minimum you must be paid, including overtime, penalty rates, and allowances. They are public documents. They are also long, technical, and not written for the person opening their payslip on a Friday night.

Fair Pay is the simple thing we wished existed: type in how you worked, type in what you were paid, and find out whether the two add up. If they don't, we tell you the gap and what the award says you should have been paid.

We built this because the people most likely to be underpaid are the people least likely to have time or training to check. Casuals, juniors, hospitality and retail workers, people on English as a second language, people who've never opened an award document and shouldn't have to.

We are not lawyers, and this is not legal advice. We surface a calculation against your modern award. From there, you decide what to do. If you want a legal opinion, Fair Work has free advice, or you can talk to a union or a solicitor.
